Eco-Friendly Shampoo and Conditioner: Review of Plaine Products

  • Eco Friendly Shampoo Plaine Products Review

Plastic is piling up in our bathrooms and in our oceans. In a world dominated by “throw-away” culture, is it possible to have hygiene products that are good for the environment and good for you? Enter, Plaine Products, the natural, eco-friendly shampoo and conditioner company. Read my full review on Plaine Products below and find out how they are tackling the issue of sustainability!

The Products:

Natural, vegan, cruelty-free, chemical-free, sulphate-free AND color safe. Wow, it’s hard to find hair and body care products that check all of those boxes. Plaine Products is super transparent about what is (and what is not) in their goods. There are no creepy chemicals or misguiding ingredients lurking in any of their products (see the full list of ingredients HERE). Plus, everything is manufactured in the USA, which means less transportation pollution! That does mean, however, the products are a bit on the pricey side. Luckily, they pack a big cleaning-punch. One pump of the shampoo was enough for my mid-length hair. Keeping price in mind, I asked Plaine Products  how long a bottle usually lasts. They estimated that, depending on the person, a bottle could last two to six months!

All in all, Dakota and I loved using the shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is a mild mint smell to the products which is pleasant but not overwhelming. For someone who has damaged, bleached hair, I did find the conditioner was not enough for my dry locks, but Dakota loved it! To compensate, I just added a little coconut oil to the ends of my hair after showering and that easily solved the problem.

Plaine Products: Eco-Friendly Shampoo

The Concept:

What if a business actually cared about the waste it created? That is the premise of Plaine Products. By creating a “circular economy”, they have ensured that their packaging is reused, not wasted or recycled. The bottles, made out of aluminum, are durable and easy to sanitize. Simply send your empty bottles back to Plaine Products and they will be used again!

It’s simple…

1) Order your Shampoo, Conditioner and/or body wash.

2) When they are empty, order more.

3) Receive your new bottles in the mail.

4) Place your empty bottles in the package, put the return label (provided by Plaine Products) on….

5) And send your empty bottles back to be cleaned, sanitized and reused again and again and again!

Plus, Plaine Products uses “EcoEnclose”, a eco-friendly packaging company that uses 100% recycled materials. Hellooooo sustainability!

Final Thoughts:

Before Plaine Products I had only found one other “sustainable” options for shampoos; shampoo bars. Unless you are in a big city, chances are your local grocery store doesn’t sell shampoo bars, and they definitely won’t sell sustainable conditioner options. Plus, if I’m being honest, I’m not ready to use shampoo bars yet. Dakota and I have switched over to bars for things like hand soap and face wash but dang it, I want my liquid shampoo! So, if you are looking for more eco-friendly and natural hair and body wash options, I highly recommend Plaine Products.

They are ahead of their time when it comes to a sustainable business model. In the future, when we realize we don’t have a back-up planet, I can imagine a lot more companies implementing this “minimal-waste”, circular-economy. So do the planet a favor and ditch the plastic shampoo bottles for this truly sustainable product.
